For many, antiques are more than just vintage items. They tell a story, provide history, and allow us to bring them back to life. These pieces of the past yearn for someone to restore them – perhaps even permit them to tell their stories once again. With hundreds of collectibles in every part of the world, it is no surprise that people are flocking towards such hard to find odds and ends.
No matter where you are from, finding antiques can be extremely easy. Many antique collectors travel far and wide to locate unique items. Some of the most popular spots include Antiques Etc… Antique Mall in Denver and Boston based Antique stores. However, if Denver antiques are just too far out of reach, finding antiques in your own city is possible. It is crucial to know that antiques can be found in the most random places. Many people love going to yard sales to find these items because they are extremely cheap. There are hundreds of websites that will tell you when a yard sale is going on in your area. Other ways to find unique items just like Denver antiques are at antique auction houses. Almost every city has one, although the prices can surely make you run the other way.
Once you have found a city full of collectibles, it is important to consider several factors before purchasing antiques. The first thing you should do is research the item. There are hundreds of fake replicas, which will result in lost money and an empty wallet, if you are an impulsive buyer. For this reason, it is imperative to know your history. Luckily, finding out an item’s history is quite easy these days. The internet provides you with all of the needed information, and some collectibles sites even tell you how to spot a fake replica. It is important to know that most authentic antiques will have imperfections. If an item looks perfect, chances are it is fake. After all, a collectible that has been around for ages, will always have a story to tell. Many of these stories include imperfections within the material. Without this knowledge, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a real collectible and a fake one.
The next step is to make sure you know how to properly care for the antiques you buy. Before purchasing your collectible, it is important to do more research on how to maintain its beauty. There are dozens of sites which will explain what products to use and avoid, and over the next few weeks we will try to provide you with tips for caring for your antiques and collectibles. Most items should never be directly exposed in the sunlight, and they should avoid very humid places.
On Sunday morning July 30, 2006, around 7:45 a.m. a man eating at the restaurant across the street gets into his VW Van, and falls asleep and runs into the window of Lee Alex Décor and Purple Haze In Denver, missing Antiques Etc… Antique Mall by a couple of feet. The man was rushed to the hospital but had a heart attack and is in critical condition in the hospital. Luckily due to the early morning hours the stores were not open and there were no other injures. The VW Bug smashed into the windows between both stores, missing two major wall supports and only causing fraction damage to the front of both stores. However, both stores were open for business on Sunday.
It’s a sad event that occurred, but we are very thankful that we did not suffer any damage, still allowing us to complete our move and vacating the building by the July 31. I would like to leave you with a few photos from the accident.
