Antiques – Treasure for life
Antiques symbolize uniqueness and specialty. After all only a small number of people have the fortune to either purchase them or inherit them. Whatever the reason hardly anyone can escape the charm and beauty of these much talked about and desired pieces.
The Holidays are always a great time to flaunt your Antiques and treasure before your families and friends and also a great time to add new pieces to your existing collection.
Every Antique Item has its own story and importance and if it a piece you’ve inherited then it’s a good reminder of friends and family.
First of all antiques should be handle gently as they are old and somewhat fragile.
Gentle cleansing agents should be used as hard chemicals might discolor or stained the item. For items such as glass, pottery and porcelain that are breakable should always be displayed in a safe location so that they are not chipped or broken.
For antique rugs and other such textiles always use a gentle hand as even a slight hard pull could tear off the already delicate fibers. Avoid extreme humidity or direct sun exposure. When storing them be aware of any wrong folding or crushing to avoid damage. Always use vacuum at low setting and seek expert advice to add life to your much adorned Antique pieces.
The care of Antique Furniture should be taken in similar manner. Never dragged or pull them across the floor or use too much force. For dusting use a soft cloth. Never put them in direct sunlight as it can damage their polish. Extreme temperatures should be avoided and the furniture should not be put under heavy weight.
Antiques are rare so should be maintained in a manner that they could last forever. Owning an Antique piece is a big pleasure and with proper care could last the rest of your life.
